Saturday 23rd March

Hi all. Today I got up at 6.20am to let the girls out and it was snowing heavily. Went back to bed until 7.30 and checked the weather, still snowing, so I cancelled my 9.30 lesson. It has been snowing on and off all day. I made sure the birds had seed and managed a few pictures. I made a chocolate sponge cake and added a drop of orange. In the butter icing I put a few small marshmallows. We've just had a slice but it might be a bit too much for me. Last weekend I made a lemon drizzle cake which was lovely, want to make an orange drizzle next time. I took the girls out yesterday and had to hose them down when they got back and as they were so wet had to get the hair dryer out for them, Linda x

Hello anyone that may be here. It was my birthday during the week but it didn't pan out the way it was supposed to. The 3 of us were going to go to Frensham for lunch until hubby told me he was working, them mum and I said we'd go. The night before I received a call from mum saying something had gone wrong in her bathroom and someone would be along to fix it between 8 and 12 the next day. Anyway, I woke up, opened my cards and took myself off to Woking, Morrison's, to have breaky and a look around. I enjoyed myself while I was out, got a few bargains too. I came back and did some bird watching in the garden. I have a few different birds and a new one completely is a Nuthatch, so win win all round. Tomorrow, Sunday the 3 of us are off to Frensham for breaky to make up for the shortfall in the week. Been working today for a couple of hours so no birdwatching as it's been raining for most of the day and couldn't see through the windows, Linda x

Me again

Hello again. Bought my cake tins and here's the cake. It's a Delia recipe of an Austrian coffee and walnut cake with coffee cream. Had a slice and it's not so sickly as it's not full of butter cream. Adding a few more birds too. Got greenfinches and Siskins so I've been told, Linda x

Happy Mothers Day

Hi all. Been doing a lot of bird watching and a week after trying with my new food I now have goldfinches, chaffinches and greenfinches, so happy. Went to sainsburys this morning very briefly as I wanted to get a couple of cake tins as later I'll be making another coffee cake, this time I won't be throwing it out. I'm going to put a few pictures of the birds on here in a minute. Happy Mothers Day mum, see you in the week, Linda x

Hi all. Had a day off today so I had to do some housework. I've been doing a bit of bird watching in the garden and I'll add a couple of photos. Been raining all day here in Guildford, but hey ho. I've just seen there is another cold snap on the way, can't wait. Got a couple of hours tomorrow then will probably do a bit of a cook up for hubby, Linda x Woodpigeon, Robin, Bluetit, & I think a Chaffinch

Met mum and fed ducks

Evening all. I didn't have much work today so when I'd finished I met mum for a cuppa then we went to a pond locally and mum fed the ducks and swan with a loaf she had purchased.Lovely day yesterday weather wise, today was ok but not sunny, shame as we so need some sunshine. I've been busy buying different birdseed so I can attract different birds.I'm after finches but so far they haven't arrived, I must give them time. I'm going to put some pictures of the ducks we saw today on here, Linda.

A few birds from today

Hi all

Well hello one and all. Hubby and I had a look round Guildford on Friday as we weren't working.I went to the local farm shop 1st as I wanted some different bird feeders and seed, which I did buy. I want to try and attract finches and redpolls if possible, such pretty birds. I bought some niger seeds, sunflower seeds and a couple of suet blocks. I've been bird watching today but no luck just yet. Hubby was after a couple of expresso cups, a bit of a nonsense to me as there can only be about one mouthful plus I couldn't drink that stuff anyway, but each to their own. He did get a couple which have since been used. It looks like hubby is starting to get a bit sneezy already, far too early really for hay fever so I've stated with the local honey daily, see if it helps. I got my new glasses back, 3rd time lucky, but to me something still isn't quite right, but I just don't know what the problem is. The girls are fine and Poppy had someone to play with over the common so she had a good run around. I'm going to be working on Saturdays for a while now, just the mornings, as I took a new pupil and that's the only day she can do.I had a pupil pass her test last week, 2nd time so I'm sure she will love her new found freedom, Linda x
